About the Project

The Coalition for Polish Innovations (KPI) has launched the “Science Leaders Board” (SLB) program, aimed at strengthening Poland’s global visibility as a source of innovation. This initiative connects business leaders with scientific leaders, creating a collaborative space that supports the development of Polish science and technology.

The program was developed in collaboration with some of the largest technology investors in Poland: Intel, Orange, Google, Dell, Ericsson, and Flex. In its first, pilot edition, the program features 10 outstanding Polish scientists:
Dr. hab. Eng. Paweł Czarnul,
Dr. hab. Eng. Jerzy Domżał,
Prof. Dr. hab. Eng. Andrzej Jaszkiewicz,
Prof. Dr. hab. Dariusz Jemielniak,
Prof. Dr. hab. Bogumił Kamiński,
Dr. hab. Eng. Jacek Jerzy Kucharski,
Prof. Dr. hab. Eng. Ewa Niewiadomska-Szynkiewicz,
Dr. hab. Barbara Piętka,
Dr. hab. Piotr Sankowski,
Dr. hab. Magdalena Stobińska.

At the outset, a series of discussions were held with representatives from the business and academic communities. These conversations helped identify the key challenges facing Polish science, such as improving the flow of information between science and industry, supporting research commercialization, fostering interdisciplinary PhD programs, and promoting Polish scientific achievements worldwide.
“In response to these challenges, we created the Science Leaders Board program as a platform for collaboration between top researchers and industry,” said Amelia Szukowska, Vice President of KPI.

The Science Leaders Board offers participants access to advanced technologies, business mentoring, and training that develops a range of competencies — from entrepreneurship to soft skills. Additionally, thanks to international networking and participation in industry events, the researchers have opportunities to promote their achievements on a global stage.

Collaboration between business and science within the SLB program focuses on areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, cybersecurity, semiconductors, 5G networks, sustainable energy, and clean technologies. The project’s partners — Intel, Orange, Google, Dell, Ericsson, and Flex — have long invested in research and development, manufacturing, and services in Poland. Now, they have joined forces to support outstanding Polish scientists through this new initiative.

“Our goal is not only to support current scientific leaders but also to inspire young talent to pursue scientific careers. We want Poland to be recognized globally as a source of innovation made possible through stronger cooperation between science and business,” adds Marcin Czyża, President of KPI.
