The Coalition for Polish Innovation (KPI) has launched the “Science Leaders Board” (SLB) program, aimed at strengthening Poland’s global visibility as a source of world-class innovation. The initiative brings together business leaders and scientific leaders, creating a collaborative space that supports the development of Polish science and technology.
The program was created in cooperation with some of the largest technology investors in Poland: Intel, Orange, Google, Dell, Ericsson, and Flex. The first pilot edition of the program includes 10 outstanding scientists from Poland: Paweł Czarnul, Jerzy Domżał, Andrzej Jaszkiewicz, Dariusz Jemielniak, Bogumił Kamiński, Jacek Jerzy Kucharski, Ewa Niewiadomska-Szynkiewicz, Barbara Piętka, Piotr Sankowski, and Magdalena Stobińska.
At the outset, we conducted a series of discussions with representatives of the business and academic communities. This allowed us to identify key challenges facing Polish science, such as improving information exchange with business, supporting the commercialization of research, developing interdisciplinary PhD programs, and promoting Polish scientific achievements internationally. In response, we created the “Science Leaders Board” program, which serves as a platform for collaboration with business for outstanding scientists,” said Amelia Szukowska, Vice President of KPI.
The “Science Leaders Board” program offers participants access to modern technologies, business mentoring, and training designed to develop a broad range of competencies — from entrepreneurship to soft skills. In addition, through international networking and participation in industry events, scientists have the opportunity to promote their achievements on the global stage.
Cooperation between business and science within SLB focuses on areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, Big Data, cybersecurity, semiconductors, 5G networks, sustainable energy, and clean technologies. The project partners — Intel, Orange, Google, Dell, Ericsson, and Flex — have been investing in Poland for years in research and development, manufacturing, and services. They have now joined forces to support outstanding Polish scientists through this new initiative.
“Our goal is not only to support current leaders in science, but also to inspire young talents to pursue scientific careers. We want Poland to become visible worldwide as a source of global innovation driven by stronger collaboration between business and science,” added Marcin Czyża, President of KPI.

On March 18, 2025, a Science Leaders Board event was held at Google’s headquarters, bringing together outstanding scientists and representatives of the R&D departments of companies involved in the project. Participants had the opportunity to exchange knowledge, present research results, and discuss directions for the development of advanced technologies in Poland.
The following researchers presented their innovative scientific projects:
Paweł Czarnul, Jerzy Domżał, Andrzej Jaszkiewicz, Dariusz Jemielniak, Jacek Jerzy Kucharski, Ewa Niewiadomska-Szynkiewicz, Barbara Piętka, and Magdalena Stobińska.
Their presentations inspired discussions on cooperation between academia and business, as well as on opportunities for implementing breakthrough technological solutions.
Science Leaders Board strengthens relationships between science and enterprises, creating an environment conducive to innovation and effective technology transfer. The meeting at Google was an important step in building a dialogue platform benefiting both researchers and private-sector leaders.

On May 27, 2025, an expert-level event of the Science Leaders Board program took place at the 5G Lab Orange Polska in Warsaw, hosted by project partner Orange Innovation Poland. The meeting brought together scientists from various academic institutions and representatives of partner companies: Google, Orange, Intel, Ericsson, Dell Technologies, and Flex, who co-create the Science Leaders Board initiative.
The SLB initiative integrates the scientific and business communities, creating space for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the development of joint R&D projects. The meeting at the 5G Lab demonstrated the strong potential of dialogue between innovation leaders, technology experts, and researchers.
The agenda included presentations by Orange representatives on key challenges and development directions in the telecommunications sector. The research section addressed topics such as customer experience in the era of Industry 5.0, the evolution of networks toward 6G, and security in distributed data processing models.
A special guest was Professor Bogumił Kamiński from the Warsaw School of Economics, who presented the role of advanced analytical methods in planning and implementing innovation.
Following the formal sessions, participants explored selected technologies developed by Orange teams, including AI applications in the cloud, AR solutions, video analytics, and elements of cybersecurity infrastructure. The event concluded with a session devoted to models of cooperation in research and development projects involving universities, startups, and public institutions.
We thank all participants for their active involvement and for sharing their experience. The meeting confirmed that combining the competencies of science, technology, and business forms a strong foundation for building real, scalable innovation.
On September 25, scientists involved in the Science Leaders Boards (SLB) program met in Gdańsk at Intel’s headquarters to co-create the program of the Intel AI Days event. SLB participants shared their expert knowledge in artificial intelligence, demonstrating how to build scalable, secure, and efficient solutions based on the latest technologies.
Program experts discussed topics including:
– optimization of performance and energy consumption in AI systems,
– next-generation neural networks,
– the use of GPUs and locally hosted LLM models,
– practical implementation of AI-based solutions in research and industrial environments.
The SLB presentations created space for discussion about the role of artificial intelligence in sustainable development, science, and business, as well as how to develop technologies that respond to the needs of a modern economy.
The event highlighted the strong potential of synergy between academia, technology partners, and innovation-driven companies. The presence of representatives from Intel, Google, Dell Technologies, Ericsson, Flex, and Orange further strengthened the exchange of experience and perspectives.

From November 18 to 20, representatives of the Science Leaders Boards (SLB) program participated in Orange Open Tech Days 2025, held at Orange Gardens in Châtillon near Paris. An invitation from Orange enabled SLB members to gain first-hand insight into the latest technology trends and innovations developed within the company’s global ecosystem.
The event featured technology presentations, expert sessions, and discussions with teams working on solutions in telecommunications, AI, cybersecurity, and future infrastructure. SLB participants had the opportunity to see how new Orange products and services are created and to speak with engineers and project leaders responsible for their development.
Participation in Orange Open Tech Days provided a space for inspiration, knowledge exchange, and relationship-building that supports projects carried out within the Science Leaders Boards program. The meeting in Paris underscored the importance of international collaboration in creating technologies that shape the future of communication, society, and business.
